What is the Pantone Matching System?

The Pantone Matching System, also known as the PMS colour system, is a popular colour matching system used by the printing industry to print specific colours. PMS match books are a book of colours where each colour has its own name or number that helps you ensure that your colours are the same each time you print, even if your monitor displays a different colour or if you change printing services.

What is the difference between coated and uncoated stocks?

Uncoated stock is a rough type of paper. It is normally used in newspapers and tends to be less expensive. Coated stock has a smooth glossy finish. Printing on this type of paper will sharpen your text and graphic layouts. Coated stocks, however, can be a bit more expensive.

What does camera – ready mean?

This is a printing term used for digitally submitted files. Basically, it means that the image is ready to be transferred to the printing plates. The printer does not have to make alterations to your files.


What is a colour bleed?

A “Color Bleed” is the result of placing different colours adjacent to each other. A “Bleed” is the excess image beyond the trim size of the document.

What resolution should my images be in?

Images must be a minimum of 300 DPI at their finished size to print at 200 LPI or when using satin screening technology. Bitmap resolution cannot be increased after the fact without compromising image quality.

What files can I send to you in print?

PDF, is the best format to send files in for printing as it will print as it appears on your computer.

What if I want to make changes to my current Stationery or Logo or want to design a New product?

We have the expertise, knowledge and creativity to assist you in printing your current stationary products as they are now or in helping you to make the changes you want to make to your existing products. If you want to design a New Product, such as a Brochure, we will discuss with you several options that will be the ideal options to getting this product printed.

Are there any Stationery Products that are economically friendly to the environment?

Yes, there are various ways in which paper production can be made more environmentally friendly, whether it be through certified wood fiber, renewable energy consumption or chlorine free bleaching processes. One of the most rapidly growing ways that manufacturers are decreasing the environmental impact of paper production is through FSC certified fiber. For more detailed information, please inquire.

Is there an extra cost for shipping?

There may be a nominal charge to ship to outlying areas but otherwise there is not an additional charge for shipping. Please inquire.


I am worried about switching to another Printer and the associated costs involved, is there any start-up costs?

No – most times customers will have their logo and pantone ink colours on file/diskette. We will come by your place of business and consult with you about the product, request a “sample” and the logo/ink colours. There are NO start-up costs involved to switch.

 How long does it take to receive my order?

Usually on the Initial Order where artwork needs to be prepared for the press and a proof provided to customer, the turnaround time is approximately 1 ½ – 2 weeks. On repeat orders, the turnaround time can be as quick as 3 days, depending on the complexity of the print job and location of the customer.

I currently receive Printed Computer Forms from my software provider and my Bank. I am concerned that it will cost more to deal with a printer and what about my Print alignment and security issues?

Dealing directly with the Printer is always going to be a more economical decision. We are kept up to date on ALL the latest security products for Cheque Manufacturing and have all of the necessary art files for the latest software products on the market.
